They're Finally Here!

The Chickens Have Arrived!

Months have gone by since my sweet, sweet brother built our coop for us. For one reason or another we had not been able to pick up the hens. But now they are here, all five of them:)

The Brothers stand back away from their new pets while they get cozy in their new home.

Introducing.... Mimi, ToeToe, Cody, Fox, and Qui Jon Jin. 

I think the boys are in denial that they are girl chickens:/

Gotta get some Kruz-a-rooskie in the mix. Big Boy is growing soooo quickly. Makes his mama quite sad:(

Glorious Color!

Color in the Bankston household has been LONG overdue!

Little by little, our world is being brightened:)

The entry bench used to be black.... like everything else!

The framed mirror used to be a dark brown.

It's a breath of fresh air! I love glancing over to see beautiful, bright colors in the house- what a difference it makes. Big thanks to neighbor friend for inspiration and for telling me what to do... because I asked of course. She is amazing and I love her dearly:)

Inspired by Superhero's

The boys room got a little makeover for their birthday. They are both very much into Superhero's these days, so I wanted to run with that in mind and find something to make 'em happy:)

After hours of internet surfing for vintage superhero posters, I finally found an ebay seller who sold me a vintage style 11X14 calendar that was perfect for framing. Since I am queen "faux pas" in the home decorating world (gave this name to myself) I got a little help from a friend. Thanks friend!!!

After three years of being in our house, we are finally happy with their room. It feels GOOD!

Pop of Color

I am on a mission to add color into my house.

The color "pallette" I have now is (no joke) black, white, and beige.

I absolutely LOVE color but have no idea how to decorate with it. It's sad really. It's extremely frustrating too when you know what something is "supposed" to look like but you can't quite put it together. Luckily for me, my friend next door has given me a few tips to start with as she knows how overwhelmed I get when there's "too much on my plate". First thing is some paint- I will hope to post pics soon of my entry bench going from black to green:) Yay!

For now, my pop of color is the flowers above that I have sitting on the kitchen table. 

Sprucing it up (daily) makes me happy.  

I've planted a hydrangea, dahlia's, snapdragons, begonia's, lavender, and a few more wild flowers (that I can't remember the names of) this Spring so that I might have a few more lovely displays of color in the house.
